Join the Miami Sound Institute for an amazing Level 1 Six Week Introduction to Handpan Course taught by Sofi Dias & Jared Bistrong. This powerful course will provide participants with the fundamentals of playing and learning the Handpan.

Hybrid Learning
This course will be accompanied by an online platform where students will have lifetime access to video tutorials, exercises, and handpan resources.
Experiential Learning
The Miami Sound Institute's innovative teaching & learning system combines modern-day learning theories with technology and the flipped classroom model. Each week students will work on basic exercises and patterns via videos and then have an opportunity to apply those exercises to a live setting while receiving feedback from the instructors.
Real-World Performances
Students in the Miami Sound Institute have a variety of opportunities to join live performances and Sound Healing Meditations with the South Beach Sound Healing Orchestra
About the Instructors
Sofia Dias is a multi-instrumentalist living and working in South Florida. Graduated from Miami Dade College in Music Education, Sofia focuses on world percussion and has been involved in various music projects in her community ever since. Sofia works with music in many ways, from performance to education and even therapy.
Since 2018 she has held an in-depth practice of the Handpan and has dedicated most of that time studying it in the context of Music Therapy. Sofia has also been a part of Miami’s very own samba percussion community MiamiBloco since 2019, paying respect to her Brazilian heritage.
Jared Bistrong is the founder and director of the Miami Sound Institute and the South Beach Sound Healing Orchestra. A Miami native, Jared has been a pioneer in the field of Sound Healing for over 25 years. His unique facilitation and teaching style has inspired an entire community of sound healers and musicians who over the last 5 years have held meditations for over 10,000 people in the community. He teaches over a dozen different sound healing instruments, the Didgeridoo, Hand drums and the Handpan.
